Who we are
Stepps Parish Church is a congregation within the Church of Scotland and is organised according to the model constitution. This means that we have a Kirk Session and a Congregational Board, each with their own responsibilities.
The Kirk Session is chaired or “moderated” by the Minister, Rev Gordon MacRae. The Session Clerk supports the Minister and draws up the agenda for the meetings as well as taking the minutes of them. There are usually at least 6 meeting per year – more can be arranged if necessary.
The Kirk Session comprises a number of members of the congregation, both men and women, who have been elected and ordained to the office of elder and who are responsible for the spiritual welfare of the congregation.
The Congregational Board comprises all the elders and an equal number of members of the congregation who are elected to serve a three year term of office. The work of the Board is taken forward by means of a number of sub committees with responsibility for the temporal matters of the church – Finance, Property, Grounds, Fundraising and Social Events.
The key office bearers of the Congregational Board are the Chairperson, the Clerk and the Treasurer.
